In the ultimate “hold my Tang” moment, astronaut Alan Shepard decided to show off his golf skills on the moon during the Apollo 14 mission.
This third crewed moon landing wasn’t just about collecting moon rocks and doing all the serious astro-sciency stuff—which they did, by the way, for over 33 hours on the lunar surface. Nah, Shepard had bigger plans, namely showing off his golf skills WITH A MAKESHIFT CLUB on the actual freakin’ moon.
Yep, you heard that right. While the rest of us are stuck trying not to hit into the neighbor’s yard, Shepard casually pulled out a makeshift 6-iron and whacked a couple of golf balls across the lunar landscape.
The first swing turned out to be more of a lunar dribble – come on, who can blame him?
But on the second try, he turned Tiger Woods, claiming it flew “miles and miles.”
